      In depth

      Verdict

Signor Peltro, Barons Spy and Compton's Eleven are the three to focus on here with SIGNOR PELTRO the selection. Signor Peltro is only four pounds higher than when scoring over this course and distance last time. That was a good performance, winning from a consistent performer, and he seems to be running consistently. He has everything in his favour - he enjoys soft ground - and will be hard to beat. A winner at Doncaster in June, Compton's Eleven bounced back to form last time when just touched off over this course and distance. He is three pounds out of the handicap here but cannot be disregarded as he also enjoys cut in the ground. Two wins earlier in the season seem to have caused Barons Spy to have upset the handicapper sufficiently for him to have continually raised him in the handicap since. His latest effort, fourth of seven in a Warwick conditions event, has seen him raised another three pounds in the handicap. He is capable, but the handicapper's grip is strong.
