    Verdict

Raincoat, Greek Envoy and Dunaskin make the shortlist in a good quality finale despite the small field, with Greek Envoy taken to upset the John Gosden trained Raincoat. Raincoat sets the standard here, runner up in the Dante after winning twice in good style at the start of last season, and placed in a Group 3 at Glorious Goodwood. However, he was well beaten in the St Leger, and although that may have been stretching his stamina, he now looks a little more exposed than his rivals. A winner at Pontefract in June, Dunaskin ran some good races in defeat, finishing an excellent second in a good York handicap at the Ebor meeting, and then runner up in a Listed race at Ayr. He should not be discounted. A winner on his juvenile debut, Greek Envoy was lightly raced as a three year old, scoring twice, including a win at Newmarket over this trip on his final start. He won first time out last year, is very much on an upward curve, and Greek Envoy can take the finale.
