Highland Legacy, Dr Sharp and Thewhirlingdervish are the three that catch the eye here, with Highland Legacy taken to continue the winning form he displayed in similar conditions at the end of last season. Third in the Cesarewitch two years ago, Dr Sharp won next time at the same venue but has been winless since despite some good efforts in defeat in some top handicaps. He is now two pounds lower than his last win, but is one of a handful of runners whose stamina is unquestioned. He may need a run or two to be seen to best effect, but with rain forecast, Dr Sharp, the only course winner in the field, can run well at a nice price. Thewhirlingdervish is another proven stayer, and at ten years of age his best years may be behind him. However, he won twice last season and was placed in three of his other six starts, including a fine effort to be runner up over this course and distance. He will have come on for his Catterick re-appearance but may just have to slip down the handicap a little to resume winning ways. Six years his junior, Highland Legacy won three times last season, but really came into his own when stepped up to this trip. He raced over it twice, and won emphatically on both occasions. He looks capable of further improvement and can handle a nine pound rise in the ratings. His trainer has had four winners this month, and Highland Legacy can make it another.
