This is an interesting maiden, with some newcomers as well as a couple who hve run well on their debut, and Caranbola is taken to come on for an encouraging first run. Not many of the top yards are represented here, the exception being Willie Haggas' The Magic of Rio. Sprint bred, the dam won over this trip as a juvenile, and she is also related to the remarkable Clantime. Haggas is not really known for debutant winners, but he saddled a well backed newcomer who scored at the Craven meeting, and any market confidence should be heeded. Locally trained by John Quinn, Woteva ran an eye catching race on her debut, staying on well up the Beverley hill to be a close second, clear of the others. Not unfancied that day, Woteva looks sure to put that experience to good use and run well. Mel Brittain has trained a couple of big price winners this season, but a win here for Caranbola would not be a shock. She was slowly away on her debut over the course and distance, but nothing finished better as she ended up a close second behind Tim Easterby's winner-Easterby winning the race for the third year in a row. Sprint bred, she looks set to have learned a lot from the experience and Carenbola can score.
