Although Jeremy Noseda has his runners in good shape he has had just one juvenile winner from 16 runs in 2009 and therefore Awesome Act looks worth taking on at the likely cramped odds and we will do so with AMEER. The Saeed Bin Suroor-trained selection makes his debut here after changing hands for 205,000 guineas as a foal. He is bred to be a middle distance performer in time, but his dam was placed in her only start as a juvenile, and the Godolphin two-year-olds have such an excellent strike rate this time that we will take a chance on him. Meanwhile Awesome Act made a pleasing debut over course and distance earlier in the month when beaten four lengths into second, though finishing a similar distance clear of the third. That is the best piece of what limited public form we have on offer and it would be no surprise if natural improvement saw him good enough to win this, though those earlier stable stats are against him. Mushreq should be capable of getting involved, but again his yard's juveniles are breaking few pots this season and unless there is serious support for him we can probably take a watching brief. Seaside Sizzler is nicely bred and should be at home over this trip and on fast ground, while Balesteem looks likely to prove better as an older horse. Critical Moment does not stand out off the page as a leading Hills-trained two-year-old, and while Power Of Dreams and Haatheq should both improve a fair bit for their debut runs, Ameer is taken to make his first start a successful one.
