In depth

Verdict

WARCRAFT may be the answer in a competitive start to proceedings but fellow Irish raiders Older And Wiser and Carsonstown Boy also merit respect whilst Victory Parade could show up well for the home team. The last named ran on well on his hurdling bow to take the spoils over this trip at Worcester; that form puts him in the thick of things although it's possible that the long odds-on favourite in second didn't run up to his best. Older And Wiser hasn't really built on an impressive win over this trip in July but he ran well here in June over two and a half miles on good ground and will be better served by today's stiffer test. Carsonstown Boy has no easy task conceding weight all round on his first attempt over this trip under Rules but he does have the assistance of Ruby Walsh and shapes as though he'll stay this far. Warcraft should also be well served by the step back up in trip and he has been running some decent races in handicap company which include a commendable second to Royal County Star at Cork in May. He's just about the pick of those with official ratings, has gone well for this jockey and Warcraft may well prevail.
