Verdict

ROCK 'N' ROLLER, Kanpai and Kokkokila comprise our short-list in order of preference. Willie Muir's runner has been a little in and out during his career but he has won three of his thirteen starts which is by no means a bad strike rate and he's on a competitive mark. He's pretty versatile with regard to underfoot conditions, sees out this trip well and may have more to offer as a stayer. Kokkokila ran well for Ryan Moore last time on her first run over two miles and enters calculations on that showing but she hasn't always looked the easiest of rides and we'd rather be against her. Kanpai appeals as more of a threat following his decent second at Pontefract. That was his first outing since a decent hurdles campaign in 2006 and he's thus entitled to come on for it; he has only been handed a small rise in the weights and he is feared greatly but there's always the possibility that he'll bounce so we'll go along with Rock 'N' Roller.
