An interesting maiden with Film Set, Noverre To Go, Shabib, Sunniva Duke and King's Siren all having shown a decent level of form. Gauging how much improvement they are going to make between runs at this formative stage of their careers is not straightforward so our selection, FILM SET, could not be a confident pick. A couple of factors swung the vote in favour of the Godolphin colt whose sales price rose dramatically between one and two. Firstly, the fact that he was very well backed ahead of his debut at Pontefract where he showed a likeable attitude to only go down narrowly to a more experienced rival with the pair clear of the field. Secondly, that the form looks solid with the third going on to run a decent yardstick close on his next start whilst another bonus is that the yard boasts a one in four strike rate with their juveniles at this venue. Noverre To Go's Dewhurst entry may be flying too high but he wouldn't need to improve significantly on his form to win this. His problem is that Shabib and Film Set have already run to a comparable level and are arguably open to more improvement if they build on their runs. That can't be taken for granted though as Sunniva Duke's flop at Haydock burnt plenty of fingers. The maiden that Shabib ran in is beginning to work out and could prove to be useful form; Barry Hills' colt must be respected. It took a while for the penny to drop with King's Siren at Warwick but she ran on nicely once it had. The market will no doubt help to shed some light on hopes and expectations but we'll nominate Film Set to lead them home.
