CARLITOS SPIRIT has the most to carry here, but doesn't look overburdened in the first race on turf, and is selected ahead of Napoletano and Mrs Slocombe. No world beater, Rod Millman's gelding has improved in his last couple of runs to be placed last time out in a similar contest over course and distance. Further improvement could be enough to land this, and see him back to the form of a year ago, when winning at a better level off a slightly higher mark. Napoletano is nought from 15 since last winning last summer, although his best effort in the intervening time did come here, albeit on the Polytrack. He has won here on the turf over this trip too though. Mrs Slocombe hasn't served up much in the way of returns to backers, but was placed last time out at a big price, despite being slowly away. A first time tongue strap may help Piccolo Mondo, but in a race of little quality, we'll side with Carlitos Spirit.
