PEKING PRINCE can make the marathon trip north of the border pay off in the opener, while Firebet may prove next best in a competitive event. Andrew Balding sends Peking Prince all the way from Kingsclere and with David Probert claiming a good 3lbs he looks an attractive proposition. He stayed on strongly when scoring at Newbury last time, after taking a while to come to hand this season, and the manner of his success suggested that he can probably now go on and defy an 8lb rise. Firebet concedes 16lbs to the selection, and that may just prove beyond him. He is 6lbs higher than when scoring at Nottingham last week, and he goes well at this trip and on fast ground, so he is given due respect. Beautiful Breeze looked in the grip of the handicapper at Sandown but this extra furlong might help him find a bit extra, while African Art won a Haydock maiden and was then out of his depth at Newmarket, but this is easier and he may well figure. Tiger Reigns might benefit from the drop back in trip but he was well beaten last time and Peking Prince is preferred.
