raced wide, close up, ridden and quickly lost place
made all, ridden and 2 lengths clear over 1f out, ridden out
tracked winner, ridden 2f out, not quicken final furlong
held up, pushed along halfway, ridden and hung left over 1f out, stayed on towards finish
tracked leaders, ridden 2f out, weakened final furlong
always in rear
in touch, ridden over 1f out, chased winner inside final furlong, kept on
John Akehurst's Private Olley belied odds of 33/1 when successful on his handicap debut at Kempton last month and has every chance off a 5lb higher mark today but this looks a stronger contest and preference is for MAOI CHINN TIRE, who gets the vote over May Chorus. Jim Boyle's filly is another that has not had a great deal of racing but she ran much better when chasing home Orsett Lad here over seven furlongs last month and has every chance if not inconvenienced by the drop back in trip. Avon Castle is difficult to recommend on the balance of her form but she has been given a chance by the handicapper having been dropped 4lbs since her most recent start in a maiden and Gary Moore does have his string in good form. By comparison, Until The Man probably needs some help from the assessor, while the John Hill's-trained Volatilis remains a maiden after seven starts and is unlikely to loose that tag today racing off the same mark as when well held last time. The vote then goes the way of Stan Moore's Maoi Chinn Tire, who has been running better and more consistently of late and he looks worth siding with to open his account in this contest.
