Verdict
Jeff Pearce's Glen Lass has been in great form in claimers of late, winning four races on the bounce until finishing a creditable third behind Kathindi at Kempton recently and she has every chance but may struggle back in a handicap today and it may be worth taking a chance with the reappearing THE MIGHTY MOD, who gets the vote over Magic Spirit. Stan Moore's filly split Kathindi and Glen Lass in that Kempton claimer and is now 9lbs better in with Jeff Pearce's filly so she has to be hugely respected, although there is a suspicion that Glen Lass did not run up to her true level of form that day. Sheena West's Whipperway was a narrow winner of a mile seller here last time and she has to be considered but is far from certain to appreciate the step up in trip today. Bubbly Braveheart has shown better form of late and lost no caste in defeat behind Rock A Doodle Doo over course and distance last time for which a 1lb rise is perfectly fair. Jim Boyle's New Den is relatively unexposed after just six starts and he has to be respected but preference is for another lightly raced runner, The Mighty Mod. Mark Johnston's gelding has only had the four starts so far and was well held on his first start in a handicap when last seen at Pontefract in October but the break and the step up in trip may bring about improvement and he looks worth chancing at the likely odds.
