With a number of top yards set to be represented this is likely to be an informative maiden; BITTER FORTUNE arguably has the most valuable edge in terms of experience and is tentatively forwarded as the one to be on at this stage. Pickwick, Mortbet and Vibrant Force represent powerful connections so merit closer inspection. Muntanaker wasn't given a hard time on debut last month and also may have more to offer. The last named would appear to be his yard's second string judging by jockey bookings, though. Vibrant Force is bred to be suited by the trip and, given Mahmood Al Zarooni's impressive record in maidens; the mount of Frankie Dettori is a worthy alternative to the selection. Mortbet is another with a likeable pedigree and is in the right hands to be nurtured to best effect. It's feasible he will need the experience but is one to bear in mind for future reference whatever happens. Similar comments apply to Pickwick, who makes plenty of appeal on paper. Sir Michael Stoute is renowned for his patience with three-year-olds so it would be no surprise to see this fellow derive great benefit from today's introduction to racing. However, Bitter Fortune has already shown plenty of sparkle and, having been backed off the boards when last seen out; it's entirely feasible that he will equally as popular as he bids to put the record straight today.
