John Dunlop has kept GOODWOOD MAESTRO at home since a debut success at the Sussex track back in May and the Piccolo colt is taken to win again when fresh here, while Treadwell is very much respected. The selection was the ready scorer in a fast ground maiden that day and is a very nicely bred juvenile. There is no reason why he won't act on this surface and he is clearly open to plenty of improvement, so he gets the verdict. Treadwell was another debut winner when he obliged at Sandown shortly after the selection had first seen a racecourse. He was not disgraced in the Coventry Stakes at Royal Ascot and has earned his mark of 98, so he will not be easy to beat, but is vulnerable to an improver. Next best looks to be Bagamoyo, yet another debut victor, who has twice since made the frame in races that were not as strong as this and he looks tricast material. Perfect Ch'I returns to what is a more suitable trip, although this surface might be quicker than ideal on her first try, while I Am That looks the pick of the other pair of runners. Goodwood Maestro can call the tune.
