COME WEST has clear claims although Rate Field comes out marginally best on these terms whilst Star Tenor has something to find but continues to perform with credit. It's in Come West's favour that he won a novice hurdle over course and distance in the summer but it's a concern that he didn't find a great deal off the bridle last time as the finishing straight at this track is no place for shirkers. He has to concede 7lbs to Rate Field whom he'd meet on 5lb better terms in a handicap but there has to be a doubt as to whether Emma Lavelle's runner is capable of running up to that mark having returned a well beaten favourite on his only run since joining the yard from Ireland. Star Tenor has run some sound races in similar company but it remains to be seen how well suited he is to this track whilst Irish raider, Artic Lighting, cannot be dismissed. Alison Thorpe poses a riddle in saddling three runners, none of which can be comfortably dismissed, but Come West looks the pick.
