A competitive heat where Magroom and Spring Secret look leading players, but we will side with ATACAMA SUNRISE. Topweight Magroom looks sure to get competitive for Ron Hodges and will benefit from this faster ground than when runner-up from the same mark over course and distance last time. The five-year-old is a thoroughly consistent performer in this sphere and should be bang there at the business end. The same probably applies to the in-form Spring Secret. Bryn Palling's gelding has come right in the past few weeks, winning on good to soft ground at both Bath and then here last time. This is his optimum trip, but he does have to prove he can do it on fast ground and given that he was all out last time a 6lb penalty might find him out. Everaard's only win came when conditions and trip were similar to this at Warwick and he is now back to just 2lbs higher than that, so there are grounds for some optimism for connections. Similarly, Bosamcliff is back on a handy mark, but she seems to save her best for softer ground and we will take her and the rest on with Atacama Sunrise. The shrewd Jeff Pearce can emerge from a touch of the doldrums here with this Desert Sun filly, who was unlucky to find trouble in running when an eased down third, beaten only a length, over this trip at Yarmouth last time. Fast ground suits and she is a filly in form so we'll just side with her.
