Old-timer The Tatling is likely to give it another bold shot but he may struggle to pick up the speedball that is MANGO MUSIC. Mick Quinn's mare could never land a blow last time at Pontefract from a wide draw but she is better judged on her good win at Haydock earlier in June. Admittedly that was only a small field, but her previous second to Doric Lady has since been franked, so her form stands up well. She has a fine record at this time of year (6 of 7 wins between May and September) and she could be able to dominate this field. Gift Horse could be a rival for the lead; the former Dandy Nicholls-trained runner is now with David Evans but his record is one of unfulfilled potential and he cannot be relied on despite this trip being his optimum. The Tatling hasn't won since February but has run well in 10 of his 12 starts since, any support for Mick Quinn's other runner Whiskey Junction with Seb Sanders booked would look interesting, whilst Kyllachy Storm has three course wins to his name and Darryll Holland (2 wins from 5 runs for the yard this year) looks an interesting jockey booking. Bateleur is consistent and will run well if granted the strong tempo that suits him best, Forest Dane is now 11lb lower than his last winning mark but that was back in April 2007, whilst course and distance winner Blushing Maid is tumbling down the weights. A very open race, but assuming she doesn't play up before the start as she has in the past, preference is for the front-runner Mango Music.
