Verdict

LAKE WAKATIPU is the pick with Bannville and Quedillac the others of note. The mare jinked and unseated rider at Aintree when looking to hold every chance and while racing is full of hard luck stories, it would be fitting if compensation could be gained here. Bannville was second in a Sligo point-to-point. The winner has not gone on to do much under rules. Quedillac has been well supported on his two starts under rules but should find this step up in trip to his advantage. Crazy Eyes is qualified for handicaps so it is something of a surprise to see him making the pilgrimage up North. Speedy Max is the likely pace angle as he has shown a modicum of ability in Irish points when raced up with the pace. Boston Bay carries colours that are familiar to Northern racegoers of the last thirty years or so but he probably is one to note with the future in mind. Kayaka is in receipt of the allowances and is in first time tongue tie following a disappointing debut over hurdles. The newcomers do not appear to be anything out of the ordinary on breeding but a cursory glance of the market is wise. Lake Wakatipu is our idea of the most likely winner.
