Verdict

PEAK SEASONS is our call in this contest with Inmate and Silver Steel on the short list. The six-year-old has proved difficult to win with in the past but he seems to reserve some of his efforts for Cartmel and with Byron Moorcroft replacing Lee Vickers, he has 5lb less to carry this afternoon. A winner over two miles, this trip should not be a bother. Inmate ran respectably at Newton Abbot recently. There is a nagging doubt that he may be at his very best with much softer ground obtaining. Silver Steel appears to have become more consistent for the application of a tongue-tie. The cheekpieces have been removed this afternoon. Russian Invader has ability although appears to have badly lost his way. Paperchaser landed a spectacular punt at Perth earlier in the month although he will need to defy his highest mark for quite some time. Fred Bojangls ran creditably at Hexham to give Trafalgar Man a fright and he may be capable of going close again. Trotsky has been running in Irish points for some time and now returns to life under rules. Pinewood Legend can be expected to have improved significantly for a first run back for some time and is one for the market watchers. Peak Seasons has to be forgiven some below par efforts but he has gone well in the past.
