The hustle and bustle of a large field suits Drawnfromthepast, who edges a slender vote of confidence in the opener; Berbice, Dedo and Dark Angel are other to keep on the right side, while each-way support for Johar Jamal would not be arriving without foundation. The last named is at the right end of the weights and, with the drying ground in his favour, the son of Chevalier is no forlorn hope on these terms. A betting move in his direction may prove significant. Dark Angel was far from disgraced when fourth in the July Stakes and, as his yard are thriving just now, a big ran can be expected. He was not far behind the selection when they met at Royal Ascot and, on the revised terms, he has to be considered as a big threat. Dedo also merits a second look, as he is on an upward curve and appears versatile regarding the ground. Kevin Prendegast is now convinced that sprinting is his game and it would be folly to ignore the Irish raider. Richard Hannon has four in the race; so a careful monitoring of the betting ring would be advisable before jumping in with the nicely-bred Berbice, who got off the mark in pleasing fashion at Goodwood in June. His form looks solid and, with Ryan Moore doing the steering, he may give the selection the most to think about. However, Drawnfromthepast is much better than he showed in the Richmond Stakes and it would come as no surprise to see different tactics employed today. The son of Tagula may be best when he races with the pace and, with the benefit of a high draw, he should benefit from a handy position in the early part of the race. Already a winner over six furlongs, the tip holds no fears for Drawnfromthepast and he is expected to be hard to master if Jamie Spencer allows him to tag on to the anticipated early pace.
