Henry Cecil has traditionally done well with his two-year-olds here but Notice Given would need to step up markedly on previous form to trouble the judge and a better bet looks to be YOUNG SIMON, who gets the vote with Sir Frank Wappat potentially the best of the rest. The selection improved from his debut effort when chasing home Marrayah over course and distance last month and George Margarson's colt is taken to go one better here. Sir Michael Stoute's Magnificence was well held on his first start on a soft surface at Newmarket in July and again on similar ground at Salisbury recently. He may do better on the faster ground today but is hard to back with confidence from what we have seen so far. Gay Kelleway's Exceedingly Bold made a promising debut at Ripon last month and has to be of interest. A market move for Marco Botti's newcomer, Marjolly, should be noted but of more interest among those making their first racecourse appearance is Sir Frank Wappat. Mark Johnston's son of Oasis Dream takes the eye on pedigree and has to be considered first time up but a safer option looks to be Young Simon.
