In depth
Verdict
A great chance for anyone behind here to 'get out' with Claptrap, who is a confident choice to land this handicap from Rocinate, Maritime Blues and Dancing Nelly, who can all go well. The selection drops back in trip here, having been short-headed over a mile and a half at Southwell in controversial circumstances the other day. However, he should perform equally well at around 10 furlongs on breeding and had any amount in hand last time, so can claim the win he missed out on here. Rocinate was unlucky in running at Haydock last time out and given a clear run can finish even closer this time over further, while Maritime Blues scored here over a mile last time but still has to prove he gets further, and others are preferred. An eyecatcher in the line-up is the Barry Hills-trained Dancing Nelly, who runs for the first time since November and is bred to get these sort of trips. However, her yard is not in the best of form at present and she may just need this, so Claptrap is the one to get us out on a high.
