In depth

Verdict

Best Before has had a number of chances already, but has easily the best form in this field and is fancied to record a belated first win in this moderate opener. Jamie Osborne's three-year-old was long odds-on when well beaten at Southwell last time on sand, but had earlier shown a decent level of form, finishing second on three occasions, and it really is very hard to get excited about any of his opponents in this race. The danger can only be Mark Johnston's newcomer, Tedeska, and with that stable in such good form it would, perhaps, be foolish to take a very short price about Best Before. However, he seems sure top get off the mark eventually and is unlikely to get a better chance than today.
