      Verdict

      Hat-trick seeking SMALLJOHN is a confident pick in this handicap contest with Divine Force and Arachnophobia rated as the main threats. Holding a 50% course record the pick has comfortably won his last two starts both when taking on this assignment. He's up another six pounds for latest easy win and with the form looking solid from that run we see no reason to oppose him this time. Divine Force landed back to back victories at this track including over course and distance before the handicapper caught up with him. He struggled again at Kempton last time but back at his favoured venue he has a small claim. Arachnophobia is one win from one run over course and distance and while his form has been solid since getting up at Kempton in the Autumn he still looks in the grip of the assessor. Steel Stockholder ran well from a pound out of the handicap to land his own course and distance win last time but will have to build on that now up to a career high rating so with plenty of doubts around most of the leading lights Smalljohn looks a really strong choice.
