In depth

Verdict

In maiden that won't take much winning we side with Mark Johnston's well-bred debutante FLORIDITA while Angelina Ballerina sets not a very high standard and Tomintoul Star is beginning to look exposed. Mark Johnston does well with his older debutantes and this one is bred to relish the slower artificial surfaces. He may in time excel at Southwell but he's related to a continental classic winner among a whole raft of success stories and he won't have to be at his best to win this. Angelina Ballerina has earned a rating of 65 and was once thought good enough for listed company. She wasn't disgraced in those attempts but she's failed to repeat that level of form so despite her best effort for a while last time she is overlooked. Tomintoul Star looks vulnerable to an improver and is far from a superstar while Shelia's Bond might be interesting after improving in two starts. There are a few in this with some solid enough form but none of those are superstars so we give Floridita the chance to win on debut.
