Fox Hunt and Flower Fairy head a host of interesting newcomers but we'll take PICKWICK to score; the others to have raced need to find considerable improvement. Sir Michael Stoute's colt is a half-brother to the yard's Zacinto, a smart horse despite his below-par efforts this year, and he made his debut in what looked a warm Leicester maiden. The form will be put to the test by Bitter Fortune who runs in the 19:10, but whatever happens there the impression Pickwick created was one of a horse who could only improve as he wasn't given a hard time when beaten. With the yard perhaps returning to form he can account for some interesting newcomers, with Fox Hunt making most appeal. A Dubawi colt out of a Saddler's Wells mare, he's bred to be at home around this trip and needs a check in the market for a yard who had a fine July. Flower Fairy cost 320,000E and her dam is very well-related so she needs a market check for a top yard who can ready a newcomer, while Chris Wall's Fashion Lady may not have attracted bidders' attentions when sent through the ring but she is stoutely bred and couldn't be ignored. The booking of Richard Hughes aboard suggests Tattler, an expensive half-brother to a winner over this trip, is expected to leave his debut behind and how he moves in relation to Fox Hunt will give us a clue, Zawadi is bred to stay and needs a look too, but Pickwick should be hard to keep out of the frame.
