Peponi is engaged at Goodwood on Saturday so refer to that run for his chance, but providing he doesn't win it hard-held our preference here would be for BE INVINCIBLE over Bitter Fortune. Our pick has taken a while to come to himself since landing a sprint maiden but came up against a blot on the handicap in defeat at Newbury and a 3lb rise therefore seems fair. Ryan Moore was on the winner that day so his booking is compelling and the colt is taken to continue his progression. Indeed the horse that beat Be Invincible last time was trained by Jeremy Noseda who saddles Bitter Fortune and again Moore surely could've taken the ride. His second to a now 81-rated filly earlier this term makes a mark of 76 appear fair and first-time cheek-pieces could open the door to further improvement. Peponi looks well-handicapped on his second to Suited And Booted but much will depend on how he fares at Goodwood. With that in mind it may pay to look towards the Hannon contingent for best of the rest, with Our Boy Barrington preferred over Magnus Thrax. The latter is slipping in the weights but for good reason and Hughes prefers Our Boy Barrington, a horse who showed when second here off 69 that this track isn't a problem. Swift Chap has won off this mark but doesn't appear ready to strike and our preference is for Be Invincible.
