Chris Grant's Cross Of Lorraine comes here on a hat-trick following wins at Catterick and Newcastle but they have been in sprint trips and a 9lb rise for the latest of them makes winning again no easy task with a better bet looking to be CALL OF DUTY, who gets the verdict ahead of Silly Gilly. Ron Barr's mare has been running consistently well in recent starts and should be thereabouts again but she may again have to settle for minor honours. Wiseman's Diamond faces no easy task giving weight away all round under 10st 7lb but cannot be discounted having run better at Redcar last time. Ann Duffield's Salerosa similarly ran better last time at Thirsk when chasing home Very Well Red and she can race off the same mark today so has to be considered, while anything trained by Mick Easterby in this sort of contest is worthy of a mention and Emperor's Well is no exception. The vote though goes the way of Dianne Sayer's Call Of Duty, who deserves to get his head in front having been placed in his last six starts and he can gain a deserved success.
