BATTLE can get the better of Summers Target and Quick Single in the opener. Hughie Morrison's two year olds are rarely wound up for their first starts and Battle showed enough when finishing fifth in a fair maiden at Newbury to believe that normal improvement can see him land a race of this nature. He should be sharper now and has the best of the draw. Summers Target sets the standard having made the frame on all three starts to date and Brian Meehan's runner should take home a share of the prize money once more. He has twice been turned over at odds-on since making his debut though and is worth opposing as a result. Quick Single is badly drawn but he showed a glimmer of ability at Newmarket and the yard landed a touch with a once raced juvenile at Salisbury last week so close attention should be paid to him in the market as it should do the newcomers with Purissima being one of the more obvious candidates. Experience may win the day though and Battle can land the spoils.
