COILED SPRING is selected to land the opener for the in-form Amanda Perrett yard whose yard is going through a real purple patch at present. Third on debut at Newmarket behind his better fancied stable-mate, this son of Observatory hit the front with over one furlong to run before greenness did take over and he gave way to more experienced rivals. Considering that was his first run it was a highly promising debut in what looked a decent maiden, the fourth having won since adds substance to that belief and Coiled Spring is likely to take a lot of beating. Antinori was an eye-catcher on debut, staying on to take fourth spot in a Lingfield maiden run at a false pace. He can be expected to have learned a lot from that and looks the main danger to the selection. Call It On stepped up considerably on what he showed on debut to finish fourth in a Newmarket maiden last time and with those in front having showed solid form in maidens previously, he is an interesting contender for a yard not noted for turning out juvenile winners. La Diosa showed the benefit of her debut to finish third in a Goodwood maiden last time. The Godolphin filly Popiel will need to step up on what she has shown to date as those Brighton maidens she has run in were weak events. As always at this venue an interesting maiden to open the card and Coiled Spring is selected to win it.
