Verdict
TO THE POINT is selected to get straight to it and leave her rivals trailing in this nursery for Ed McMahon and John Fretwell. The selection was the subject of strong support last time at Windsor where she looked all over the winner a furlong from home before being worried out of it in the closing stages. Her breeding suggests she should be effective over at least six to seven furlongs so to say she was a non-stayer last time would be unfair while she saw the trip out well on her debut. Her last two runs were during a lean spell for the McMahon yard but they have turned the corner since then and it could have been it was just simply an off day for her. Fitness will have to be taken on trust given she returns from 99 days. Cheviot hails from a yard that can do little wrong at present. His latest run was very solid in a strong nursery run in a good time. He drops back to the minimum trip which would be the slight concern but he travels strongly in his races. Fault will certainly be suited by the drop back to five furlongs but had a very tough race at Newmarket on Thursday. He was bundles of early pace while Cat Patrol is another taking a drop back in trip having finished second at Great Leighs behind the progressive Starlarks last time. Both Mazzola's wins have been achieved over six furlongs and he looks vulnerable in against fast types here. To The Point is given the nod to land it.
