Not many of those with experience have caught the imagination as yet and, although Boundaries and Normandy Maid have shaped with promise; the Mark Johnston-trained VETVEY makes most appeal as he is an interesting newcomer that can be expected to have been stringently put through its paces at home. Being a son of former high-class sprinter Fasliyev, the selection will be a formidable opponent if he has inherited the battling qualities of his sire, who retired unbeaten from short but stellar career. Obviously a check on the betting would be advisable before just assuming he is worthy of anything more than a speculative interest on his racecourse debut. However, as Boundaries is already in danger of being exposed as ordinary and Normandy Star needs to have improved from his first outing if he is going to be a player; Vetvey appears to have been placed to good effect today. If he is going to fulfil his Middle Park Stakes entry, the selection would be expected to take a race like this in his stride.
