Yet again, a big field and not a race to be dogmatic about, but VALDAN is suggested, with Interdiamonds and Umverti others to consider. Maurice Barnes is double-handed in this race, but it is Valdan with whom we find favour. A course and distance winner on fast ground in May last year, he is now back on that mark and also has no problem on good. You have to put a line through his last run, but that will hopefully help to ensure that he is a decent price here and he is the one for us. Interdiamonds is hugely consistent but she has thus far managed to win only once, being runner-up on six other occasions from just nine starts. She looks competitive, yet vulnerable once more, from today's mark of 75. Umverti acts on the going and stays this trip well. Neville Bycroft's mare did well in the spring last year and should be more competitive from today's mark than she has shown on her last two starts, so she is respected. Ahmedy stays much further and will want a strong pace to bring that stamina into play, while Safebreaker could get involved, though might find one or two too good. Valdan gets the nod.
