Verdict

This smaller field will suit ADVISOR who is preferred to Hunterview and Monsieur Jourdain. Paul Nicholls' gelding was not expected to win on debut at Newbury but accomplished the feat, partly due to a bad error late on by his major rival. However he has won since and although he flopped in the Triumph Hurdle, it looks likely that he will bounce back to form in this weaker race. Monsieur Jourdain has been fitted with cheek-pieces his last two runs and his form is ok if unspectacular, but the feeling is that this better ground may bring out some more improvement. That comment also applies to the lightly-raced flat recruit Ascendant. He has avoided the big festivals and one must assume that he will run a big race. Hunterview's attitude has been questioned in the past but he seemed to put it all in when beating Riskareas at Warwick in January. A run in the Fred Winter was beyond him but a place beckons this afternoon. Worth A King's was fairly decent on the flat and has done well for current connections since going hurdling. On a form line through Rougham he is held by the selection but is not one to rule out with Timmy Murphy and interesting jockey booking. The rest are likely to struggle, and so it is with little hesitation that we return to Advisor as the selection.
