Verdict

A grandly-named race for amateur lady riders in which it's hard to look beyond the utterly-revitalised MERCHANT OF MEDICI for the in-form Hammond yard. The eight-year-old gelding hadn't visited the winner's enclosure since the spring of 2011 before rattling off a remarkable recent hat-trick in the space of 20 days. He looks nicely treated and Becky Smith was on board when he scored on his penultimate start - trip and ground are ideal again. Red Inca and Exclusive Contract won't lie down without a fight and rate the main dangers, though the consistent Frosty The Snowman has place claims for Ruth Carr and Serena Brotherton, who have teamed up successfully in the past.
