ROYAL NORMANDY should provide us with a decent run for our money in a tricky opener. The Royal Applause gelding remains lightly raced with a mere four runs to his name and showed improved form last time upped to this trip and dropped to this grade - further progression can be expected and he should be involved at the business end. Dark Wonder is nominated the most likely threat on the back of improved efforts returned to Turf the last twice. He runs here off an unchanged mark and is respected while York Express is now down to a more favourable mark and is one of many others who could take a hand in what is a difficult puzzle to solve.
