Verdict

MANAGUA's reappearance run behind Bugaku was chocked full of promise and as long as that run hasn't left its mark after a long absence he is fancied to prevail; French Applause and Bollin Dolly may prove to be the biggest dangers. Mick Channon's charge travelled powerfully at Yarmouth last time before just finding Bugaku too strong in the closing stages. That was his first run since finishing down the field in the 2008 Superlative Stakes so it was a fine run and all the better for the outing he could take some stopping off just a one pound higher mark. Arabian Spirit has a first start for Richard Fahey and is respected accordingly, Sacrilege is too hit-and-miss to recommend, whilst French Applause was well-fancied at Doncaster last month but never looked like featuring in a competitive handicap. This looks easier so he is not ruled out. Bollin Dolly was involved in quite a rough Pontefract race last month where it didn't help that his rider threw his whip away two furlongs out. In the circumstances that was a good run and she can still win off this mark of 71. Wrongwayround impressed when winning a seller here last month but there were no bids and he has since been well-beaten at Beverley, whilst Orpen Wide is handicapped to win but woefully out of form. This looks a good chance for Managua to oblige. [Nic Doggett]
