Verdict
BREATHLESS STORM represents a yard in good form and is fancied to see of the choice newcomers Defence Council and Greek Islands. Tom Tate's Storm Cat colt shaped with plenty of promise at Doncaster, eventually weakening into fifth behind Zaidan. He seemed to lose his action slightly there but the experience won't have been lost on him and if he can run true then he shouldn't be far away. If he fails to handle the undulations of the course then it may pay to take a chance on Defence Council. Howard Johnson traditionally has some very smart juveniles and this Kheylef colt is not one to ignore, especially if the market concurs. The most obvious newcomer in the race is Greek Islands who represents powerful connections. He cost 200,000 Euros and is related to several winners over in France, albeit over further. Captain Loui needs a market check but there is plenty of stamina on his dam's side as she is from the family of Derby winner Sir Percy, Santorino looks the pick of Paul Midgely's duo, whilst Sarandjam represents Mick Channon. His juveniles tend to improve greatly from first to second runs but this colt has plenty of running to do after just a moderate Goodwood debut. Anddante is not ignored due to the form of the yard however we are happy to stick with Breathless Storm in this interesting opener. [Nic Doggett]
