In depth

Verdict

MISS SERENA is worth a punt. Art Exhibition is also an interesting candidate at this level, while Piper's Song and Russian Invader make appeal to scrap it out for the places. Russian Invader, like a number of the others, has been tried under both codes of racing and bids to gain an overdue success. However, it can be argued that his best efforts on the Flat have been on the all-weather, so he does have a bit to prove on this surface. Piper's Song has been banging on the door of late and merits respect. However, there are significant doubts about his ability to stays two miles; and he will need to be at his very best to score. Art Exhibition has been around a number of yards and has a fair bit of experience to draw from. He made a satisfactory debut for Rod Millman last month and is expected to relish this more appropriate trip. The betting market may be the best vantage point to see what expectations are held him, as he sports blinkers for the first time in public today. However, Miss Serena has a few more ticks in the right boxes and she gets the nomination to take home the lion's share of the prize-money. Her stamina is proven, she has experience of racing at Nottingham and, as the handicapper officially states she is the best horse in the race; she has every chance of carrying top weight to victory against some modest opposition.
