Verdict

Although he has become a hard horse to win with, Putra Sandhurst, has already proved that he retains plenty of ability and should still have enough left to offer to take a race of this nature, ahead of First Charter and First Ballot. The Michael Jarvis-trained five-year-old has come up against a handful of decent types in his last two outings but has still fared well enough in defeat to suggest that he is still worth persevering with. He comfortably held First Charter when the pair clashed at Newmarket in June and the terms of this race give him every chance of upholding the form. The stable's runners are really beginning to fire at present and Phillip Robinson should be able to guide the entire to a much deserved second career win. First Ballot is nothing if not game and should again run his race, but like Wahchi, he lacks the scope of the 'big two' here, with Putra Sandhurst just preferred to lead the way at the finish.
