Pontefract's eleventh annual 'Red Shirt Night' charity meeting - the Yorkshire track's third and final evening fixture of the summer, should see New Mexican open his account despite a wide draw, with Inzabar and newcomer Sir Frank Gibson likely to play a part in proceedings. Lynda Ramsden's juvenile found only the very useful Pearl Of Love too good on his Doncaster debut and had the misfortune to run into Mark Johnston's colt again in the Chesham Stakes at Royal Ascot. The son of Dr Fong was considered hard done by on that latest run, as he encountered major traffic problems when making his move, and would surely have finished closer than fourth. He gets the chance to make amends here, and should make no mistake unless Johnston's debutante Sir Frank Gibson is as good as stablemate Pearl Of Love, which we doubt. Inzabar was a beaten favourite in selling company at Yarmouth which does not entitle him to beat the selection, while Alice Blackthorn, although earning favourable reports on the gallops, will surely find this too tough. All in all, New Mexican rates a good bet to get punters off the mark-you can put your red shirt on him!
