Verdict

Wingbeat can maintain his unbeaten record this afternoon with Striking Spirit feared most. The Godolphin team saddled a welcome winner in the first race at York on Wednesday to confirm the impression that the stable was beginning to get into its stride. The form of the Yarmouth maiden that he won isn't very strong and the handicapper hasn't taken any chances but he did win the race very easily and it will be disappointing if this well bred colt isn't capable of a good deal better yet as his Group 1 entries would suggest. Striking Spirit doesn't have any such fancy entries but he ran well last term and proved that he had trained on when a slightly unlucky in running sixth in a competitive handicap here on his return. It would be slightly disappointing were any of the remainder to land this heat and none make any great appeal; Wingbeat can lead them home.
