This is a trappy maiden to open the card and from a shortlist of Metroland, Spin Cycle and Peninsular War we will side with Metroland. The selection showed plenty of promise on her debut when she chased home Veronicas Boy over this course and distance. She ran green that day so she should come on for the experience and she looks the one they all have to beat. Spin Cycle looks the obvious danger though as he encountered plenty of trouble on his debut yet he still wasn't beaten far behind Dispol Kylie at Thirsk. He shaped as though he would improve for the experience and he looks as though he could go close. It is also worth noting that his yard won this race last year. Peninsular War made a pleasing impression on his debut at Musselburgh behind Go Nani Go, but he ran quite straight that day so it remains to be seen how much he will improve. Richard Fahey sends his newcomer Pedregal to post here and he is certainly worth a look in the market, but for the winner we will stick with Metroland.
