Verdict

Meeriss, Bold Choice and Captain Webb make most appeal in this Listed contest and the vote is given to Meeriss. The selection arrives here fit from a recent spin at Newmarket and there was plenty to like about the way he ran that day when he chased home Kandahar Run. He looks a progressive type, the stable are in good form and he has ground conditions to suit and he should take all the beating. The step-up in trip is also a plus for him. Bold Choice is another who should be suited by this extra yardage but the simple fact is that he will need to improve on what he has shown so far if he is to get his head in front. Captain Webb hails from the Mark Johnston yard who won this race last year, but although he has looked progressive this season, he was beaten in a handicap last time and this is tougher. His stablemate Love Galore is unexposed and he could therefore prove best of the others, but Meeriss has a touch of class and he should be hard to beat.
