Heretic gets the vote ahead of stable mate Polar Ben while Sublimity and Checkit should provide stern opposition. James Fanshawe's lightly raced five-year-old hasn't been seen since finishing down the field in a valuable mile handicap at the Glorious Goodwood meeting after suffering trouble in running. However, the selection goes well fresh and is a very smart performer with cut in the ground so with conditions in his favour he looks sure to go well with Jamie Spencer in the plate. Polar Ben possesses a fine turn of foot which was seen to good effect when landing a Group 3 at Doncaster St Leger meeting but a 6lb penalty will prove hard to overcome. Sublimity has been off the track since Royal Ascot and has plenty to prove at this level while Checkit excelled himself in defeat last time but his overall form does not look good enough so Heretic looks the answer.
