Verdict

HIMALYA, Knot in Wood and Sir Gerry are the principals in this classy opener, with preference for the improving Himalya to come out on top. Knot In Wood ran his habitual good race in the Wokingham, coming fourth. That was a solid effort, and though he was well beaten previously in a Listed contest by Sir Gerry, he won this race last year and looks a major player. Sir Gerry is as good as ever judged on his success in that black type affair. He ran respectably in the Golden Jubilee, which may have come a bit quick, and an earlier second in another Listed contest underlines his good campaign. After a pipe opener, Himalya has shown excellent form in his recent starts, finishing runner-up twice. The latter run came over seven furlongs in a Royal Ascot handicap, and though this trip may be a little on the sharp side, he should have enough pace to cope. Himalya can get punters off to a winning start.
