In depth

Verdict

SHANGHAI SILVER was having only his third start and stepping up to this trip for the first time when storming away with a novices' event at Chelmsford. An opening mark of 80 may prove lenient and he should take this if handling the surface. Tom's Rock should provide a test as he scored at this level at Lingfield and has subsequently run well from his raised mark. Testa Rossa has been brilliantly placed to score 10 times, including here in January, though he went up 10lb for that victory and has struggled subsequently. David Simcock got four victories out of West Coast Flyer, including two on Tapeta, before he was sent to race in the UAE. Now back with the Newmarket handler, he can make a bold bid under top weight.
