Heading our shortlist for this lowly, trappy Lingfield handicap is JUST OSCAR, who we marginally prefer to Straight Face and Avoca Dancer. It's wide open though, with another big field, and they're all very closely matched, with just four pounds between the scheduled 18 runners. Just Oscar doesn't have the greatest of draws, and remains nought from 34, but showed a great attitude last time to come from last to second in a stiff Brighton test. The yard's only runner on the card, he's at least shown some form of late, unlike most here. Straight Face is better drawn; Gay Kelleway does well here, and her charge won a lowly claimer on his penultimate run at Newcastle. He's more experienced on the all-weather, and has paid his way over the years. Avoca Dancer used to be a stablemate, but is now having his fourth run for Karen George; he's yet to show any great promise, but this sort of race isn't going to take much winning, and his previous moderate form may be enough, especially from an advantageous draw. Harry Dunlop's had some nice winners recently, and Dark Camellia has some each-way appeal from a good draw, but to win it, we'll side with Just Oscar.
