Peak Of Perfection can land this decent prize, with Inchpast, Golden Quest and Swift Sailor expected to give him most to do. Peak Of Perfection has yet to repeat last season's exploits but has been coming to the boil race by race, and showed that his turn was near when staying on well over a mile and six furlongs at Musselburgh on his last outing at the end of May. The Michael Jarvis inmate would surely have gone close in the Northumberland Plate had he not been balloted out, and compensation awaits here over a trip that should prove ideal. Also, his proven ability to handle the Polytrack is a plus factor. Inchpast will not go down without a fight though judged on latest efforts. Mark Tompkins' runner has won five of his last eight races, and as he only just does enough, can race off a kind mark of 85, having been put up just five-pound for his recent Salisbury success. He too should be suited by the step up in trip. Mark Johnston has two runners, with Greg Fairley taking weight off Golden Quest who was just touched off in the Ascot Stakes at York. The drop back in trip will help, and he can go well. He makes slightly more appeal than Chester Cup runner-up Swift Sailor who ran a bit flat at Newcastle. Peak Of Perfection is the pick.
