Dean's Yard is a tentative choice here ahead of Almost Spinning, with Capricorn Run, Barodine, and Rahy's Crown worth noting. Dean's Yard is a full-brother to Right Approach, and with entries in the Royal Lodge and next year's Vodafone Derby, Sir Michael Stoute's colt will be fully expected to step up on a promising debut at Sandown where, despite carrying his head high, he was not beaten far by the favourite In The Fashion. He will be one to follow next year, but should have the legs of a field in which most of the dangers consist of newcomers. However, the main threat could come from Almost Spinning who was sent off as favourite at Newbury after a promising introduction here. She got outpaced in the closing stages and will appreciate the extra furlong now. Capricorn Run represents Godolphin, and if his $950,000 price-tag is any indication, then the American-bred can be considered useful. Whether he shows anything today remains to be seen, and along with Barodine and Rahy's Crown, he should be noted in the betting ring, but on the evidence so far, Dean's Yard is the one to be on.
